In June 2006 Airtask Group was awarded a PSO contract for the provision of an inter island scheduled air service in the Shetland Islands. Operated on behalf of the Shetland Islands Council and based at Tingwall airport near Lerwick, conducting flights utilising 2 Britten Norman Islander Aircraft to the islands of Fair Isle and Foula. The contract was re-awarded to Directflight in 2009 and again in 2013.
The aircraft are crewed by 3 experienced pilots with aircraft maintenance carried out by Airtask Group engineers at Tingwall airport. The Group works closely with the Council to ensure the most effective possible service for residents of the remote islands, whilst providing the Council with the robust, safe and responsive service they demand.
In addition to the delivery of a wholly compliant service, Airtask has liaised with the Council to identify and implement improvements in the provision of the service and its supporting infrastructure, whilst striving to embrace cost saving measures.

Hebridean Air Services, the latest subsidiary to join the Airtask Group, offers Scheduled Air Services to Coll, Colonsay and Tiree from their base at Oban Airport on behalf of the Argyll and Bute Council.
Services also offered include aircraft charter and air ambulance for walking wounded, more information can be found on the Hebridean Air Services site at:
