Overview
The Airtask Group was originally established in 1983 at Norwich airport commencing operations as an AOC holder conducting ad hoc passenger and freight charter. Today we provide bespoke mission based aviation solutions to government and commercial clients around the world.
We pride ourselves on the high quality delivery of turnkey operational and technical solutions, tailoring solutions to each customer's individual needs, whilst ensuring comprehensive customer care.
We offer a broad range of services available from a team of dedicated directors, managers and highly experienced pilots and cabin crew.
Our services include the provision of host aircraft, operating protocols, mission systems, role equipment, modification design, manufacture, installation, testing and certification. Headquartered in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK we consistently demonstrate our ability to confront new and difficult aviation challenges.
We continue to develop and deliver successful solutions to meet specific mission requirements using our provision of specialised aircraft, equipment, personnel and procedures. We are an established Air Operator Certificate holder and operate in compliance with Commercial Air Transport regulations.
Travelling around the world to serve our clients, we have worked with MoD, Marine Scotland, FAAM, MMO, NCAS, NERC, QinetiQ, BAE Systems and the Met Office.
Airtask ascribes the highest priority to safety but without compromise to customer’s operational and commercial expectations. Company safety and compliance management systems, approved by the Civil Aviation Authority provide further assurance of Airtask’s total commitment to exemplary aviation.

Global Operations
Airtask through its operating company Directflight, is one of only a few UK based AOC Holders to be issued with a Global AOC, keeping company with the likes of Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. With our science partners since operations began, meteorological campaigns have included detachments to the Arctic, North and South America, the Caribbean, Canada, Sweden, India and Indonesia also planned for the future.
The company's current experience as a global operator with proven ability to fly in remote and challenging environments while under contract to Government Agencies and large Corporates, provides credible evidence of the company's capability.

2003 - Acquisition of Directflight
Cambridge Helicopters, Aeromega and Directflight parented by the newly formed Airtask Group.

2004 - Won the Global Atmospheric Contract
Airtask was awarded the Global Atmospheric contract on behalf of BAe Systems. The BAe146-301 series Atmospheric Research Aircraft was introduced into service, following CAA approval as a global Public Transport Operator.

2006 - Awarded Shetland Inter Island Air Service PSO Contract
Operations commenced in the remote regions of the Shetland Isles, providing life line services for the communities, with the introduction of the BN2 Islander series.

2010 - Established A Dedicated Surveillance Base at Inverness Airport
Utilising 2 Cessna F406 aircraft, on behalf of the Scottish Government, Airtask commenced maritime surveillance, protection and enforcement operations.

2012 - Awarded QinetiQ Contract - Maritime Patrol Aircraft
After successful trials demonstrating the efficiency of Airtask Group’s MPAs, contract awarded for the delivery of Hebrides range clearance services.

2016 - Purchase of Hebridean Air Services
Operating from Oban Airport, on behalf of the Argyll and Bute Council, the BN2 Islander serves the local islands and communities.

2016 - Awarded FCO Contract
Airtask awarded a contract to conduct Aerial Surveillance operations in the British Indian Ocean Territories, on behalf of the FCO.

2024 – Awarded Western Isles Stornoway Benbecula PSO Contract
Hebridean Air Services awarded a 4-year contract to operate the vital air service between Benbecula and Stornoway on behalf of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.
