Oban Airport

Oban is an airport quite unlike any other. Situated located 5 nautical miles (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) northeast of Oban, it’s surrounded by beautiful views and operates as a tightknit community. Operated by Argyll and Bute council, it has a CAA licence as a commercial airport. Currently, Hebridean Air Service is the only airline based at Oban.

Sightseeing flights also operate out of Oban Airport with trips around the Loch Linnhe area. Flights include sites such as Oban, the Gulf of Corryvreckan, Tobermory, Castle Stalker and The Bridge over the Atlantic.

Oban airport links the mainland with the islands of Coll, Colonsay, Islay and Tiree. The airstrips on the Islands of Coll and Colonsay, also operated by Argyll and Bute council, have benefitted from extensive upgrading to attain CAA licensing in 2008 to allow for commercial traffic. Scheduled flights began in 2008.

Checking in & Security

According to the website guidance, you must arrive and check-in at least half an hour (30 minutes) before your flight is scheduled to depart. If you arrive later than this you may not be allowed to travel.
